Design & Build Extensions
FAST, FLEXIBLE AND FUTURE-PROOF
Mathieu and Mitchell recommend Design & Build as the most efficient project delivery system. It means we take responsibility for all design and construction services. It gives you, the client a single point of reference for the project which helps to reduce risks, delays and misunderstandings. It is also more cost effective and faster than the usual design / bid / build method.
Design & Build projects are completed 33% faster while savings of 15% per square foot are regularly achieved.
The Design & Build method is an evolution of the Master Builder concept which is the oldest building method - in use for over 4000 years. The term architect derives from Ancient Greece where Arkhi meant 'master' and tekton meant worker/builder and their buildings too have lasted a couple of thousand years!
The Design & Build process is a rapidly growing part of our business and is the best value provider. Why? Because high quality design is usually more 'build-able' and offers a greater degree of flexibility during construction. Our experience and expertise coupled with our ongoing investment in training, education, and Health & Safety means that we can deliver well designed, good quality, practical buildings that will stand the test of time.
HOW DESIGN & BUILD WORKS
A design professional from Mathieu & Mitchell meets the client and discusses their objectives, requirements, planning, budget and design needs. Planning permission is applied for if required and design, specification, payment schedule and a Health & Safety Plan for the project are agreed.
Our environmental and sustainable building policies recommend that you aim for an A-rated energy efficient building which is lifetime adaptable. This means that your investment is future proofed and costly upgrades at a later date are avoided.
Prior to commencement a contract is signed laying out clearly the agreed design, specification, guarantees, warranties, completion date and importantly, the method for dealing with variations during the course of the work. Once the project is under way, frequent communication including site visits ensures that our team of master craftsmen is able to deliver the project on time and within budget.
The building may be finished to a certain level commonly known as a builder's finish (excluding painting, tiling, kitchens, wardrobes, carpets etc.), which allows the client to apply the finishing touches themselves. Alternatively a complete turnkey package is available.
